The creation of this site would not have been made possible without the availibility of primary sources. Through the use of census records, Deseased Personnel Records, high school yearbooks, enlistment records, newspaper articles and others, the life and death of Robert Morrison was pieced together. The most helpful of all was Robert's Deceased Personnel Record. It contained valuable information such as his wife's name, his address, how he was killed, what he had with him when he was killed, and letters to his wife from the U.S. Army informing her of his death. The second most helpful was the census records because they gave an excellent look into his family. His obituary in The Evening Sentinel was also helpful because it actually showed a picture of Robert, the only one found throughout this research. Primary sources made Robert's story all the more real and took him from simply a soldier to a person with a story. |
